Being a son of former Australian cricketer, cricket runs in Wes Agar’s blood. He is hailed as one of the emerging stars in Australian cricket and plays for South Australia in first-class cricket.
Wes is the youngest of three brothers in the family and all three are cricketers. His eldest brother, Ashton Agar has represented Australia in all three formats of the game, while his other brother, Will plies his trade in grade cricket.
Born and brought up in Victoria, he moved to South Australia in bid to gain more opportunities in cricket. Agar performed well at the age-group cricket and soon found himself playing for the state side at the under-19 level. Impressive performances at the junior level meant he was added in Australia’s under-19 squad for the 2006 under-19 Cricket World Cup.
2016-17 season saw him earning a rookie contract and with South Australia. Wes Agar made his List-A cricket debut on 2nd October 2016. He turned up with impressive performances during the season. He ended the season with 10 wickets to his name, including a five-wicket haul against Tasmania. The Australian fast-bowler made rapid strides as he was then signed by Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League.
Agar made his debut for Strikers in the 2016-17 Big Bash League. He has been a consistent player in the league since. In all, he has played 25 matches in the league, taking 33 wickets at an economy of 8.77 and average of 22.80.
Wes Agar made first-class debut for South Australia on 18th October 2019 in the 2019-20 Sheffield Shield season. He produced some spectacular performances during the tournament and ended the season with 33 wickets in eight matches at an average of 24.21. Agar has played 25 games each in List-A and first-class cricket so far, taking 35 and 19 wickets respectively.

Owing to a fantastic domestic season, Wes Agar was awarded the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year at Australian Cricket Awards on 20th February 2020.
Agar performed brilliantly in both red ball and white-ball cricketer and amongst the top-10 wicket-takers in all three domestic cricket competitions.
He took 23 wickets in Marsh Sheffield Sheild, 11 wickets in Marsh One-Day Cup and 17 wickets in KFC Big Bash League in the 2019-20 season.
