Vijeta Pendharkar’s father met with Rahul’s family when he was working in Bangalore during 1968 to 1971. In that timeline, both of their fathers became friends and families started to grow very close. This friendship continued even when Vijeta’s family moved to Nagpur. Soon after, Rahul and Vijeta were beginning to develop a strong liking towards each other. Both families are Maharashtrians and they were close to each other for years. Hence, they accepted Rahul and Vijeta’s relationship immediately.

Rahul Dravid Marriage

Their families were agreed upon the date of the wedding in 2002 but during that period, Rahul was preparing for the ICC world cup 2003 and also Vijeta had a few months left in her post-graduation. So, they decided to push back the marriage a year later in 2003. Vijeta even toured South Africa to watch her fiancée compete in the world cup.

On 4^th May, 2003, Rahul Dravid and Vijeta Pendharkar tied the knot in a traditional Maharashtrian ceremony. This wedding took place at The Border Security Force (BSF) Training Centre, on the outer suburbs of Bangalore.

The couple welcomed their first son, Samit in 2005 and their second son, Anvay was born in 2009. Samit Dravid is on the paths of his father and making a name for himself in U-14 cricket currently.

She was born in 1976 to an Air Force Wing Commander. Due to her father’s duty, Vijeta spent her childhood measuring the length and breadth of the country.

She completed class X education from Bal Bharati School in Delhi before her father’s retirement. After that, her family moved to Nagpur, where she took forward her education at Shri Shivaji Science College. After completing her schooling, Vijeta decided to pursue a career in the medical field and joined Government Medical College in Nagpur. She then completed her post-graduation in Surgery in November 2002 from the same institute.

A medical surgeon by profession, Vijeta Pendharkar was having absolutely no idea about cricket at the beginning. According to Rahul Dravid, the fact that she was unaware of the events that were happening on the field helped him immensely. Vijeta gave up on her career to take care of their children while Rahul was away representing India. Both are currently living a simple life in Bangalore and they continue to stay away from all the razzmatazz of the cricketing world.
