Vijayveer Sidhu Shooting

Having stumbled upon shooting by chance, Vijayveer Sidhu is one of India’s most promising talents. Vijayveer and his twin brother, Udhayveer, discovered their passion for shooting at the age of eight during a school camp at St. Xavier’s School in Mansa, Punjab. Fascinated by the gun range, Vijayveer quickly got his brother involved, and the duo has been inseparable in their shooting pursuits ever since. Their parents, recognizing their sons’ talent, relocated to Chandigarh to provide better training facilities.

Tragedy struck the Sidhu family shortly after their move to Chandigarh when Vijayveer’s father, Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, passed away suddenly. Despite this significant loss, Vijayveer and his brother continued to pursue their dreams, driven by the unwavering support of their mother, Rani Kaur, a government school teacher.

Vijayveer’s shooting prowess quickly became evident as he excelled in both the air pistol and rapid-fire pistol categories. He ultimately specialized in the rapid-fire pistol, which became his main discipline. Despite initially using borrowed equipment, such as fellow Olympian Arjun Singh Cheema’s pistol, Vijayveer’s determination and skill shone through.
