Indian badminton legend PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, is set to tie the knot with Venkata Datta Sai, a Hyderabad-based businessman and Executive Director at Posidex Technologies.

The wedding is scheduled for December 22 in the enchanting city of Udaipur, with pre-wedding festivities kicking off on December 20. The celebrations promise to blend grandeur with elegance, befitting Sindhu’s stature as one of India’s most celebrated athletes.
Sindhu’s father, PV Ramana, shared that the wedding date was chosen with great care to accommodate her hectic badminton schedule, as the 29-year-old prepares for the crucial upcoming season. “The two families knew each other, but it was only a month ago that everything was finalized. This was the only possible window given her busy calendar,” Ramana told PTI. A grand reception will follow on December 24 in Hyderabad, after which Sindhu will resume her rigorous training.

Sindhu is hailed as one of India’s greatest athletes. Her accolades include:
- Five World Championship medals, including a historic gold in 2019.
- Olympic silver at Rio 2016 and bronze at Tokyo 2020, making her the first Indian woman to win multiple Olympic medals.
- A career-high world ranking of No. 2 in 2017, cementing her place among badminton’s global elite.
Recently, she ended a prolonged title drought by clinching the Syed Modi International title in Lucknow, defeating China’s Wu Luo Yu in a straight-sets victory. This triumph marked her third win at the tournament, following victories in 2017 and 2022.
Would PV Sindhu continue playing after wedding?
Despite the wedding, Sindhu remains focused on her career. In a recent statement, she confirmed her intention to continue playing competitively for the next few years, with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics firmly in her sights.
“This (Syed Modi win) will definitely give me a lot of confidence,” Sindhu said. “Being 29 is an advantage because I bring experience and intelligence to the court. I’ll be playing upcoming tournaments in Malaysia, India, Indonesia, and Thailand. It’s all about picking the right tournaments and being strategic about my participation.”
Post-wedding, Sindhu plans to dive back into the international circuit as she eyes further milestones in her already decorated career. With her undeniable talent and unyielding determination, she is poised to continue making India proud on the global stage.
