Sohaib Maqsood is a Pakistani international cricketer. He was born on 15 April 1987 in Multan, Pakistan. He made his T20 international debut against Zimbabwe on 23 August 2013, followed by an ODI debut versus South Africa in November 2013. Maqsood impressed in his maiden ODI series as he hammered two half-centuries in his first two games.
The 34-year-old started his career in 2004 as an off-spinner. A back injury put an end to his bowling plans, and he shifted focus on his batting. Due to his tall stature, aggressive batting style, and Multan roots, he is often compared to the great Inzamam ul Haq. His squad number is 92, perhaps a tribute to the Pakistan team that won the 1992 cricket World Cup under Imran Khan. His favorite shot is the backfoot punch.
Maqsood has performed consistently well in the domestic circuit. The flamboyant shot maker could never nail down a spot in the national squad because of injuries. His career looked almost over in 2016. However, after a hiatus of 5 years, he is back in the Pakistan side for their series against England and West Indies.
