Smriti’s birth date is 18 July. A lesser-known fact is that she was born to a family of cricketers. Her father and brother have both played cricket at the district level in India. Her hometown is Sangli, Maharashtra.

Smriti started playing cricket at the tender age of 9, and at just 11 she was playing for the Maharashtra under-19 side. She debuted for the national team in ODI’s on 10th April 2013 versus Bangladesh and her Test debut came against England on 13th August 2014 in which she hit a half-century.
Smriti became the first Indian woman to smash a double ton in a one-day match between Maharashtra and Gujarat in October 2013. In 2016, Smriti was the only Indian player to be named in the ICC Women’s Team of the year. She was the recipient of the prestigious Rachel Heyhoe-Flint Award for the year 2018 and was also named ICC ODI Player of the Year in the same year. She became the youngest player to captain the national side in a T20I at just 22 years of age when she led the team against England in February 2019. She received the Arjuna Award on 25th September 2018.
Smriti is an integral part of the Indian Women’s IPL where she captains the IPL Trailblazers.
She has also played for several franchises in the Women’s Big Bash League Down Under, where she further strengthened her reputation as a swashbuckling opener. She is currently plying her trade with Western Storm.
