Watch: Rishabh Pant becomes 1st IND keeper to score a ton Down Under

Young Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has been in the news for his talking behind the stumps in this ongoing Test series. But at Sydney, he made the headlines by slamming an aggressive century that has almost sealed the series for India. And in the process, the Indian wicket-keeper broke several records as well.

The Indian wicket-keeper batted fearlessly but took calculated risks when he arrived at the crease. He raised the tempo after the fall fo Pujara and started looking for quick runs.

In his nineties, he played a few nervous shots which indicated that he is feeling the pressure. But the youngster kept his calm and reached the milestone in style. This is Pant’s second Test hundred and both of his hundreds have come in overseas tours.

The Indian fans were delighted to watch the Indian wicket-keeper score a sensational century at SCG. The Bharat Army made a song on Pant and were singing it at the Sydney cricket ground.

Pant registers himself in record books 

The Indian wicket-keeper made a strong statement on day two of the fourth Test. He tormented the Aussie bowling attack which was already exhausted and gave India more than a chance to win the series.

Pant scored 159 runs off 189 balls and smashed 15 fours and one six. And he became the first Indian wicket-keeper to score a hundred in Australia.

Pant’s knock of 159 runs is also the third-highest score by an Indian wicket-keeper behind MS Dhoni’s 224 vs Australia and Budhi Kunderan’s 192 vs England. This also the second highest score by a visiting wicket-keeper in Australia.

Rishabh Pant is now the only 2nd visiting wicket-keeper to register Test 100s both in England and Australia.

Pant now has two centuries at the age of 21 years. He is the only wicket-keeper to have as many hundreds at this age.
