Ripal Patel IPL DC Player : On 12th November 2019, a young batsman in Ripal Patel made headlines after scoring an unbeaten 13-ball 41, helping Gujarat register a 99-run victory over Nagaland in a Syed Mushtaq Ali 2019-20 fixture. Interestingly, it was only his second T20 appearance for Gujarat in his domestic career.

The 25-year old Ripal Patel made his debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on 24th September 2019. Turning up for Gujarat, he scored 9 runs off 10 balls against Bengal in his debut game.

On 11th November 2019, he made his T20 debut for Gujarat in the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Having appeared for just one season for Gujarat so far, Patel has an IPL contract to his name. Ripal Patel plays at number 6 or 7 for Gujarat in domestic cricket. In a bid to bolster their lower-middle department, Delhi Capitals roped in the youngster. However, it remains to be seen if he could get a chance to represent the franchise in IPL 2021.

“I am ready to perform for my team in whatever capacity they wish to. This lockdown period has given me the opportunity to rediscover myself as a pinch hitter. I want to hit big shots. I am not nervous about playing my first IPL. Will try hitting big shots there. I just can’t wait any longer this opportunity. I am also grateful to Ahmadabad based Professional Manager Ketul Patel for guiding me and managing my affairs” Ripal Patel told Insidesport.co in an exclusive interview.

Steve Smith is Ripal Patel’s biggest idol. The 25-year old looks up to the former Australian skipper and is looking forward to learn from him in this edition’s IPL.

“He is undoubtedly one of the best innovative batsmen in the world. Looking forward to meeting and learning from him. I like his style of unconventional batting which is ideally suited for T20 cricket.”
