Born on January 12, 1993 at Mysore, Samarth had been a part of the U-12, U-14, U-16, and U-19 Karnataka state team. He made his domestic debut in a first class fixture against Mumbai in 2013 and was impressive to score 75 in the 2nd innings. He was quick to feature in other two formats for Karnataka as well.

He started to gain attention of the selectors, when he was the leading run scorer for the Karnataka team in 2016/17 Ranji Trophy with 702 runs in 9 matches and was named in India A squad as an injury replacement for Abhinav Mukund. In recent years, he has improved his consistency and is the first choice opener for the Karnataka team in First Class and List A matches.
