Bollywood actress Preity Zinta was born in Shimla. She belongs to a Rajput family and her father was an Indian Army officer. He died in an unfortunate car accident when she was only 13 years old. Her mother was involved in the accident and was injured badly. Such an early demise of her father forced her to take rapid strides in life at a young age.

She went to the Convent of Jesus and Mary boarding school in Shimla. During her school days, she was very impressed by the creations of William Shakespeare.
