Phil Salt is known for his explosive opening batting. Salt is a regular feature in the county and English setup where he represents Surrey County Cricket Club. In his early days, he won a scholarship at Reed’s School which motivated him to pursue Cricket over football.

In his teenage years, Salt has lived a few years in Barbados where he got in touch with the legend Gary Sobers. Salt’s relation with the legend is no at all related to the sport, he just met Sir Gary Sobers in a restaurant but there is certainly a hint of Caribbean flamboyance in the way he bats.
In 2013, Salt played for Guildford Cricket Club before he was given a junior contract at Sussex following the recommendation of former Surrey cricketer Keith Medlycott, his mentor. In his stint as a junior, Salt played Second XI matches as well as the 2014 Sussex Cricket League. In the 2014 season, he impressed many with his powerful batting. He scored 200 not out off 129 balls against Horsham and then 147 not out against the Preston Nomads, to retain his contact with the county.
In the following, he started to flourish and impressing. Salt made his List-A debut against Essex in 2015 Royal London One-Day Cup and his Twenty20 debut came a year later against Gloucestershire in the NatWest T20 Blast and debuted in first-class cricket against the visiting Pakistan side in 2016.
For the 2019 season, Salt signed a deal with Adelaide Strikers to represent them in the Big Bash League and in the same year he was inked by Islamabad United to play the Pakistan Premier League but his story to flaunt when his agent called him while he was holidaying in Miami. He was called up by Barbados Tridents to replace the injured JP Duminy to lift the trophy of the 2019 Caribbean Premier League.
In May 2019, Salt was added to England’s T20 International squad for the one-off match against touring Pakistan, replacing an injured Dawid Malan, but he did not play there. Salt was also the part of a first 55-man group of players that ECB named to start training following the Covid-19 pandemic. Later, Salt was added to the list of reserve players for the ODI matches against Australia.
