Mahendra Singh Dhoni receives Padma Bhushan

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was conferred with Padma Bhushan award from the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind at the felicitation ceremony in Rashtrapathi Bhawan, New Delhi.
Honorary Lieutenant Colonel received the third highest civilian honour dressed in an army uniform. Coincidentally he received the honour on the same day when he guided India to its second ICC World Cup triumph exactly seven years ago.
The 37-year-old is the eleventh Indian cricketer to receive the honour. He is the only skipper to win all the ICC trophies including the ICC Cricket World Cup, World Twenty20 and the Champions Trophy.
India achieved the number one position in ODI under his leadership in 2009, and he was conferred the Padma Shri in 2009.

MS Dhoni was appointed to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army by Army Chief General VK Singh in November 2011. in 2014, Dhoni announced his retirement from Test cricket but he continues to play other formats.
He was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2007. He also holds the record of being the first player to win the ICC ODI Player of the year twice in 2008 and 2009.
85 recipients were selected for the prestigious awards this year and the government of India announced the name of the recipients on the eve of 69th Republic Day.
