While it was tough start for Rizwan at the international stage due to presence of Kamran Akmal as first choice wicketkeeper, Rizwan quickly adapted to the Pakistani setup having made his debut in at the age of 23.

Widely regarded by many as the best domestic cricketer in the 00’s, Rizwan exploded on the scene relatively late in 2015. He averaged a remarkable 50 in the List A career and around 41 in the First Class cricket of Pakistan, Rizwan was destined for heights at the international stage.

Career

Mohammad Rizwan made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in April 2015 and in the same month he also represented the T20I side as well. An integral part of the team, he holds a unique distinction in the world of cricket, to be the only cricketer to have scored 2000 runs in a calendar in the T20I format.

The versatile player also holds unique distinction for Pakistan, he has scored hundreds in all the three formats for the national side. Despite being an expert of the limited-overs game, his accomplishments didn’t go unnoticed as he was promoted to the Test team’s vice captaincy.

Rizwan’s highest piece of accolade came in 2021, when he was named as the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricketer of the Year for 2021. After Brendon McCullum he is the second wicketkeeper batter to have scored hundreds in all the three formats. He was also one of the Wisden’s Cricketers of the Year.
