Career
Matthew Cross started his initial cricketing days by becoming a member of Aberdeenshire CC at the early age of nine. He served as the Scotland U19 vice-captain during the 2011 U19 World Cup and was highly praised for his spectacular performance.
He has also played for Loughborough MCCU, Nottinghamshire 2nd XI, and Academy. The U19 vice-captain made his One Day International debut for Scotland against Canada back in 2014.
Matthew made his debut for Scotland in the 2013 YB40 match against Hampshire and performed quite well. Cross’ consistent good stats made his selection possible in the 2013 World Cup Qualifiers T20 squad. Marking his consistency, Matthew was selected for the Montreal Tigers franchise team in the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament.
The same year, Cross was named in Scotland’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the United Arab Emirates in 2019. Whereas last year Mathew was selected by the selection committee in Scotland’s provisional squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
