Luke Ronchi is a former New Zealand cricketer who has also represented Australia on the international level. He is the first player ever to represent two countries at international level. Ronchi was part of the New Zealand World Cup side which finished as runners-up in the 2015 Cricket World Cup after getting outplayed by Australia, Ronchi’s former country.
Ronchi is well-known for scoring quick runs on the field. He broke the record for the fastest domestic one-day ton in Australian cricket on 7 February 2007. Ronchi opened for New South Wales and he scored his maiden century off 56 deliveries beating the previous record held by Adam Vogues. He debuted as a wicket-keeper for Western Australia in January 2002. For two years from 2007- 2009 he served as Australia’s second-choice wicket-keeper and played several matches for Australia A.
In February 201, Luke Ronchi announced that he was planning to return to New Zealand and he made his ODI debut for New Zealand.
Ronchi announced retirement from International cricket on 21 June 2017. Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum hailed Ronchi as someone who ’embodied all that is important for New Zealand cricket culture. He called him someone who was selfless, humble and hardworking.
