KS Bharat Stats: India’s latest debutant in the first Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 is wicket-keeper batter KS Bharat. After the unfortunate accident of Rishabh Pant in December last year, India’s wicket-keeper spot in the Test team was left void. Bharat was the front-runner to fill the void and today he made his Test debut.

KS Bharat Stats
K S Bharat, also known as Kona Srikar Bharat, is an Indian cricketer who plays as a wicket-keeper. He was born on October 3, 1993 in Andhra Pradesh, India. Bharat made his first-class debut for Andhra Pradesh in the 2012-13 season and quickly established himself as one of the top wicket-keepers in Indian domestic cricket. He has been known for his sharp glovework and has a good reputation for being quick behind the stumps. In 2019, he was called up to the Indian cricket team for the two-match Test series against the West Indies, but didn’t Test debut. He has been around the India Test circuit, but due to Rishabh Pant’s extraordinary show with the bat in Red ball cricket, Bharat had to wait for his chance.
IPL career
KS Bharat has been playing the IPL. He made his IPL debut in the 2021 season for RCB against KKR at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. In the 10 matches he featured for RCB & DC, Bharat scored 199 runs at an average of 28.43 and a strike rate of 122.09. He is best remembered for his last ball six against Delhi Capitals’ Avesh Khan to take his team home in a crucial game played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
In the following season, i.e., 2022, KS Bharat was bought by Delhi Capitals. He featured in 2 matches he scored only 8 runs and was released by the franchise the following year. In the 2023 IPL auctions, the defending champions Gujarat Titans have got hold of him for INR 1.20 Crore.
