She went to The Cathedral & John Connon School in South Mumbai and later on moved to American School of Bombay. During her school days, she used to participate in school plays alongside Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff. After completing her schooling, Athiya moved to New York City and enrolled at New York Film Academy as she always wanted to have a career in acting.

Athiya Shetty was not unknown to film industry even before her debut due to her parents. The main challenge in front of her was to make her own identity in B-town. In 2015, Athiya Shetty made her debut in remake of 1983 classic film ‘Hero’, film was directed by Nikhil Advani and her co-star was Sooraj Pancholi. For the role of ‘Radha’, Athiya received Filmfare award nomination for the Best Female Debut.

After the gap of 2 years, Athiya Shetty returned to the silver screen in Anees Bazmee’s romantic comedy ‘Mubarakan’ opposite Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz. Then she appeared in Debamitra Biswal’s comedy drama ‘Motichoor Chaknachoor’ alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui in 2019. Both these films opened to mixed reviews at the Box-office.

Athiya Shetty won the ‘Face to watch out for’ award at Vogue Beauty Awards in 2015. She was also roped in as the brand ambassador for ‘Maybelline New York’ straight after her debut. She has appeared on covers of popular magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Verve, Harper’s Bazaar, etc.
