KL Rahul was born to KN Lokesh and Rajeshwari in Kananur, Magadi Taluk. KN Lokesh, his father, is a professor in the Civil Engineering department and former director at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK). His mother, Rajeshwari, was a professor at Mangalore University.
KL Rahul also has a younger sister named Bhavna. Although, there is not much information available about Bhavna’s professional background.

KL Rahul was born on 18th April 1992 in Kananur, Magadi Taluk. Rahul is known to have grown up in Mangalore, where he went to high school at NITK English Medium School. He then went to pre-university at St. Aloysius College. It is known that Rahul began his training in cricket at an early age of 10 years. At the age of 12, Rahul started playing for Bangalore United Club and his club in Mangalore as well.
Rahul then moved to Bangalore to pursue his cricket career and joined Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College, from where he completed his graduation. Rahul represented India at the U19 Cricket World Cup in 2010 and made his first-class debut for Karnataka in the same year.
