Jatin hails from Jammu & Kashmir and was born into a family Kashmiri Pandits. His family used to live on a farm in Kashmir, where his father was a reputed professor. He went for engineering after his father’s wishes but eventually lost the interest and dropped out of the college. In an interview, he said, “Dropping out of Engineering was a difficult decision. But I had always enjoyed literature and theatre, and English had always been a strong point, so when I made it into a journalism course, I immediately felt like I belonged.”
