ENG vs IND: India are missing Ravindra Jadeja
Joe Root won an all important toss and decided to bat first on a belter of a wicket where bowlers are helpless so far. England openers started in a cautious manner but they were hardly troubled by the Indian bowlers on this wicket.
Indian bowlers have tried everything and Jasprit Bumrah’s last ball of the 30th was an example for that although in a light hearted manner. He bowled a wide that went above batsman Joe Root’s head and it was changed into no ball few moments later as Jasprit Bumrah had overstepped.

Joe Root is showing his class and he is too good a player to miss out on a batting paradise like this. The interesting thing although is their opener in Dom Sibley who is batting in India for the first time in his short career handled spinners majestically. India’s ace spinner in Ravichandran Ashwin bowled brilliantly but there was nothing on offer for the bowlers to exploit it.
IPL 2021 likely to start from 11 April, Final on 6 June: Reports
India are badly missing the services of Ravindra Jadeja who is India’s important bowler on wickets like these where there is very little help for bowlers. The ball was reversing to a great extent but the master exponents of reverse swing in Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav were not available for India to exploit it.
England in complete command
England are in a position of strength and they are all set to score a massive first innings total. Joe Root has scored 100 in his 100th test and looks set to score a double century which he missed in Sri Lanka by a whisker.
England are 228 for 2 with 12 overs to stumps day 1.
