Iqbal Abdulla Career

Iqbal Abdulla, the talented left-arm spinner from Azamgarh, made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the inaugural edition in 2008, representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, it was in 2011 when he truly rose to prominence with some outstanding bowling displays throughout the season. The following year, he was an integral part of KKR’s triumphant campaign under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir.

Before his IPL career with KKR, Abdulla had already made his mark in Indian domestic cricket, debuting in First-class, List A, and T20 matches for Mumbai during the 2007 season. His impressive performances at the domestic and Under-19 levels earned him a coveted IPL contract with KKR in 2008.

During his stint with KKR from 2008 to 2013, Abdulla showcased his skills, playing 49 matches and claiming 40 wickets. He enjoyed considerable success during this period. In 2014, he briefly joined Rajasthan Royals for a season and later played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) between 2015 and 2017, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. However, after being released by RCB before the 2018 auctions, he has not been picked by any IPL franchise in subsequent auctions.
