What a find Haris Rauf has been for Pakistan! Not so long ago, the guy was playing the tape-ball cricket in local tournaments. The BBL franchise Melbourne Stars identified his raw talent and picked him up for a BBL season. The right-arm pacer took the league by storm and the world noticed the talent of Haris Rauf.
Soon, Rauf was fast-tracked to Pakistan’s national team in T20Is and the pacer hasn’t looked back ever since. He has gone on to represent Pakistan in all three formats and has become a pivotal figure in Pakistan’s bowling attack in white-ball cricket.
Haris Rauf has played 28 ODI matches in his career so far and has taken 53 wickets at an average of 24.32. Furthermore, he has an impressive strike rate of 25.68.

Haris Rauf is undoubtedly a wicket-taker and one of those rare breeds of fast bowlers who could threaten the batters with their pace. He can consistently click close to 150 kmph and the extra zip he gets off the surface makes him too hot to handle sometimes.
Haris Rauf is also a good old-ball bowler and it makes him a reliable option for the skipper to bank upon whenever the team needs a breakthrough. The 29-year-old, however, has some concerns of his own. He has not played first-class or List-A cricket much.
He is still finding his feet in ODI cricket as bowling in such a tense and gruesome tournament like ODI World Cup 2023 can take a toll on any pace bowler’s body. Haris Rauf is injury prone and Pakistan will have to carefully manage the workload of their prime asset.
Furthermore, in the absence of Naseem Shah, there is an added responsibility on Haris Rauf’s shoulders. However, there is no doubt about Rauf’s quality and if he can keep himself injury-free, he is likely to play a key role in Pakistan’s success.
