Gavin Main was always sporty child and was interested in cricket while growing up. Main was consistent and focused on his practice to develop his skills throughout his childhood days. 

The Scottish Cricketer was born on 28 February 1995 to a middle-class family in Scotland Lanark. Gavin made his first-class debut for Durham County Cricket Club on 25 May 2014. He is recognized for registering his best ODI figure of 5/52 against Papua New Guinea in 2022.

Career

Gavin Main is a professional Scottish right-arm fast bowler. He made his first-class cricketing debut for Durham County Cricket Club on 25 May 2014 under squad no.20. A year later, Main got the opportunity to perform on an International level and made his T20 debut against Ireland on 19 June. 

However, Gavin didn’t get the chance to showcase his talents due to the rain-hitting game. The same year, Main made his List A debut in the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship on 29 July against Nepal. Gavin has been in and out of the game and kept playing at the national level until 2019. 

In May 2019, Main was named in Scotland’s One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against Afghanistan. Unfortunately, the ODI game was no different than his first T20I as he didn’t get the chance to play. 

Though Gavin never performed on an International level, his name was considered at the time of selection. The following month, Main was selected to represent Scotland A in their tour to Ireland to play the Ireland Wolves. 

Moreover, the same month, the Scotland Cricketer was selected to play for the Edinburgh Rocks in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament. But later, the tournament was called off. 

The cancellation of the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament didn’t affect the player, as in July 2019, he was named in Scotland’s One Day International squad for the 2019 Scotland Tri-Nation Series. He made his ODI debut for Scotland, against Papua New Guinea, on 17 August and registered his personal best figure.
