Though he has a fair amount of experience in the longer formats and is adept with plenty of variations, it’s the limited-overs that have brought the best in him. From his recent performances, Chama had a run to remember during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021-22, where he finished with 18 scalps in 7 matches while averaging a miserly 11.61 and maintaining an economy of 8.41, and best bowling figures of 5/8. The left-armer continued his form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22, finishing as the highest wicket-taker for Hyderabad, with 8 wickets in 5 matches at an average of 26.87.
Not to mention, he was at his lethal best in the 2020-21 edition of the domestic one-dayers, where he scalped 10 wickets across 4 matches at an average of 21.30. In light of his consistent breakthroughs over a year and a half, Chama caught the attention of two franchises in IPL 2022 auction – Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore and was finally handed a contract by the latter.

Chama was a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2014-15 and later Delhi Daredevils from 2016-17. However, he didn’t get an opportunity to showcase his talents in each of the experiences. The wait lasted for almost five seasons when the Hyderabad-born was finally picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2022 mega auction. A learner at heart who strives for improvement with each passing day, Chama could be an asset to the franchise in the upcoming seasons.
