Ash Barty is an Australian professional tennis player currently ranked no.1 globally by the Women’s Tennis Association. She was born on 25 April 1996 in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. The 2019 Roland Garros champion has eleven singles titles and eleven doubles titles to her name.
Barty had an impressive junior career. The 25-year-old had a breakthrough year in 2017 when she finished inside the top 20 for the first time in both singles and doubles. She has a good serve, and her net play is sound. The forehand cross-court and the backhand slice are two of her better shots that unsettle the opponents.

Barty is battling no. 8 seed Karolina Pliskova in the finals of Wimbledon 2021. The grass is her favorite surface. She is the first Australian woman to reach the finals at the All England Club since 1980. Barty boasts of a better head-to-head record vs. Pliskova but is wary of the threat she poses.
Barty is in scintillating form and has dropped just a single set on her way to the finals. She beat Angelique Kerber in the semis and overpowered Ajla Tomljanovic in the quarters.

Tired of traveling and wanting to experience a regular life, Barty took a break from tennis after the 2014 US Open. She met the Australian Woman’s team in early 2015 and became excited at the prospect of playing a new team sport. She later approached Andy Richards, then coach of Queensland Fire, who was impressed with her skills with the willow.
Barty began training with Fire in July and went on to play for Western Suburbs District Club, a local Brisbane team. She then signed up with the Brisbane Heat for the inaugural Women’s Big Bash League season. Despite being a regular member of the team, she had a modest outing with the Heat, scoring two double-digit figures during the course of the season. In February 2016, she announced her return to tennis.
