In 2012, he got selected in Bangladesh “A” squad to play against England Lions. Al- Amin in his first unofficial One Day international he grabbed the wickets of Joe Root, James Taylor and Jams Vince reducing the opponent to 38 for 4.
In October 2018, he was announced in the Sylhet Sixers squad for the 2018-19 Bangladesh Premier League. Later in National Cricket League, he became the leading wicket-taker for Khulna Division.

Al-Amin made his international debut in the year 2013 when he was added to Bangladesh Test squad for New Zealand. In 2015, he was selected as one of the 15 notable players to play in the World Cup. But he was found guilty of indiscipline when he got late for teammates meeting in a Brisbane hotel. As a result, he was sent back to the home country and Shafiul Islam was called in as a replacement.
