The former cricketer started his domestic career for the Delhi team in the 1997 season. He was impressive in his debut test match for the Indian team with scores of 42 and 31 against New Zealand in October 2003 at Ahmedabad. Then he was picked for the Australian tour, but failed to provide any substantial contribution to the team. He was then dropped and his last appearance was against the Australian team in 2004 at Nagpur.
He played for the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the IPL 2008 and 2009 season. In IPL 2011, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals, but did not feature in any of the games. In total, he played 7 IPL matches. His last appearance in the cricket field came in 2013, where he represented Himachal Pradesh against Punjab.
