Suzannah Wilson “Suzie” Bates is the current captain of New Zealand Women cricket team. Suzie was born on 16th September in Dunedin and she has represented Otago Sparks in the New Zealand domestic circuit. Apart from the Otago Sparks, she has also represented Perth Scorchers Women, Adelaide Strikers Women in Women Big Bash League. She is also the skipper of Southern Vipers, a women domestic team in the English Super T20 League competition. Suzie has been named as the ICC Women cricketer of the year twice in her career span i.e. 2013 and 2015 and was also named as the ICC Women T20 player of the year in 2015. She is one of the most decorated women cricketers of New Zealand and she currently holds the record of both highest score and the highest average in New Zealand Women T20 International cricket.
She is the second women after England’s Jenny Gunn to appear in 100 T20I matches.
She is the leading run-getter for New Zealand women in ODIs with 4245 runs to her name. She achieved this feat in June 2018 surpassing Debbie Hockley’s total of 4064 runs.
She is the leading run scorer in Women T20 international with 2755 runs to her name. She eclipsed England’s Charlotte Edwards who was leading the chart with an aggregate of 2605 runs.
Suzie Bates was the ICC women ODI player of the year (2013).
In 2015 she was awarded the Wisden Leading Women Cricketer of the year.
In the same year, she won the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer for the second time in her career.
In the year 2015, she got another feather on her hat with the ICC Women T20 Cricketer year award.

Apart from being a professional cricketer, Suzie Bates has also represented her country in Basket Ball.
She has also represented the New Zealand Basket Ball Women team in the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
