Scott Styris is an Australian-born New Zealand cricketer now turned commentator, who featured in all three formats of the game. Being an allrounder, Styris played as an aggressive right-handed middle order batsman and relied on right-arm medium pace to take wickets with the ball in hand.
Educated at Fairfield Intermediate and Hamilton Boys’ High School, Styris has represented Auckland and Northern Districts since 1994/95. Styris has played for Hamilton in the Hawke Cup.
Arriving on the scene in the early 2000s as a gentle medium-pace bowler who could fit in as a middle-order batsman, Scott Styris wasn’t predicted to last a decade in international cricket. But the Kiwi all-rounder didn’t just silence his critics but also turned out to be a vital cog in the wheel for New Zealand over the year. An aggressive batsman, Styris has an added ability of filling in the middle overs with the ball; making him New Zealand’s most able all-rounder. Styris is also one of the regular broadcasters/commentators in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
