Morne Morkel is a Proteas cricketer who has played for South Africa in all formats. He plays for Surrey county in English domestic cricket. He has played in the Indian Premier League for the franchises of Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils. He is a right-arm fast bowler and a prolific lower order left-handed batsman. He made his Test debut against India in 2006 but he was dropped from the team due to his poor form. He went on to play 86 Tests. On 26th February 2018, he announced his retirement confirming that he will hang his boots from all forms of international cricket at the end of the four-matches against Australia. Morne Morkel played his last international game in March 2018 against Australia.

Morkel took six wickets in the one-run victory against Eagles in the SuperSport Series, and also scored a half-century as the Titans set a target of 178. He was then called for the Rest of South Africa for facing India two weeks later.
Morkel was then selected in the Proteas squad for the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa where he returned figures of 4/17 against New Zealand.
In October 2012, along with Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander, Morkel was also a part of a South African pace attack which was hailed as the best bowling side the country has ever produced by their bowling coach (and former Test cricketer) Allan Donald.
