Danielle de Villiers is the wife of AB de Villiers. AB and Danielle met each other in 2007, while the cricketer was still a youngster. AB happened to attend a luncheon with his mother at the hotel owned by Danielle’s parents, which is when both of their paths crossed and they started to bond. The couple dated for a long period of 5 years before AB De Villiers proposed to his girlfriend, Danielle Swart, at the Taj Mahal in 2012.

As per Danielle, India holds a special place in her heart. It is not just because he has a bigger fan following there but mainly because it is where he proposed to her. He shared in an interview that, “About a couple of months leading up to the IPL, I was obviously planning, got the ring and all that, and I decided to do it there. And once I got to the IPL, I got ‘security guards’, who was actually photographing and videographers to film the whole thing, But I told Danielle that I have to travel with security guards, so that’s why they got to go with us. And it ended up to be a great surprise and I got it all on camera.”

They tied the knot in the same hotel which was managed by Danielle’s parents and where the couple met situated in Bela-Bela, South Africa. After the wedding, the couple purchased a home in Cape Town, South Africa.
