Olympics 2024 India Schedule for July 27: Shooters will eye first medal, Badminton, Boxing, and Hockey team will also begin their journey

The Olympics 2024 has begun officially and the Indian contingent will have an opportunity to bag their first medal on Saturday, July 27th as the Indian Shooters will compete in the 10m air rifle mixed team event.

The team of Ramita Jindal/Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan/Sandeep Singh will participate in the qualification round and the top two teams from the qualification round will battle it out for the gold medal, while the third and fourth-placed teams will compete for the bronze medal.

Later in the day, Manu Bhaker alongside Rhythm Sangwan will compete in the 10m air pistol women’s qualification round. Meanwhile, Arjun Singh Cheema and Sarabjot Singh will compete in the men’s 10m air pistol qualification round. The top 8 shooters in the qualification round will advance to the final in both men’s and women’s 10m air pistol events and get a chance to win the medal.

In addition to that, the Indian hockey team alongside badminton, tennis, boxing, rowing, and table tennis will begin their journey in the Olympics 2024. Indian hockey team are placed in six-team Pool B and they need a top-four finish to qualify for the playoffs. The Harmanpreet Singh-led Indian hockey team will play their opening contest against New Zealand.

Talking about badminton, the duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will square off against Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar in Group C. Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen will face Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon in men’s singles badminton Group L. Meanwhile, the duo of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa will lock horns with the Republic of Korea’s Kim So Yeong and Kong Hee Yong in their women’s doubles Group C clash.

In Tennis, Rohan Bopanna alongside his partner N Sriram Balaji will compete against Fabien Reboul and Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France in the round of 32 fixture on a clay court. Meanwhile, in Table Tennis, Harmeet Desai will face Jordan’s Zaid Abo Yaman in the men’s singles fixture.

The boxer Preeti Pawar will begin her medal quest in the women’s 54kg round of 32 bout as she is set to exchange punches with Vietnam’s Thi Kim Anh. In addition to that, Balraj Panwar will be in action in the men’s single sculls heats in Rowing. Interestingly, he is the only Indian athlete to participate in rowing in the Olympics 2024.
