In less than a week we’re going see the dream match come to life. Even though on the go-home show of Monday Night Raw, the Undertaker didn’t respond to John Cena. Regardless we’re still going get a match and we are excited. Both John and the Undertaker are veterans of the business and this is the match we’ve been waiting for. Here are 5 interesting facts about John Cena and the Undertaker’s rivalry.
#5 John Cena Met The Undertaker On His First Night In The WWE
Yes, John Cena’s very first night, his debut on Smackdown in 2002 he met the legend, the icon, the American Badass, The World Heavyweight Champion the Undertaker. John was new, a rookie yet the Undertaker saw something in the young man.
After his match John went backstage and came face to face with the Undertaker who complimented the young rookie’s “Ruthles s Aggression” offered a handshake and said “good job”.
#4 They Have Only Met Once At A PPV
No we’ve seen John face the Undertaker quite a few times in the past, so why exactly is this a dream match? Yes, we’ve seen John vs the ‘Phenom’ on quite a few occasions but only once at a huge PPV event.
Vengeance 2003 saw the American Badass taking on the year old rookie. Quite a good match resulting in John losing after a Last Ride by Taker.
#3 Among The Two, Only John Has Lost Two Consecutive Wrestlemania Matches
Had the stupidity of making Undertaker 21-1 just to put over Brock Lesnar and then 23-2 after he lost to Roman Reigns. But this happened two years apart, meaning the Undertaker’s record is winning 23 of his 25 matches.
In John’s case it was back to back. His first loss was against The Miz at Wrestlemania 27 and The Rock at Wrestlemania 28. This has John’s record at winning 10 of his 13 matches.
