Team News
India
The Women in Blue were thoroughly outplayed in the first encounter by the Southern Stars. While Smriti Mandhana shone with a brilliant 67 off 41 balls and was ably supported by Anuja Patil, who played a handy cameo of 35, it is the failure of the middle-order in Veda, Harmanpreet, and young Rodrigues that India will have to address in the upcoming encounter against the English.
On the bowling front, Jhulan Goswami led the attack from the front yet again, taking three wickets at the expense of just 30 runs. Her partner, Shikha Pandey had a forgettable outing (0-24 in two overs) and would be looking for better returns against England. Rumeli Dhar’s place in the team has come under jeopardy after a forgettable spell against Australia where she conceded 28 off 2.1 overs. One of Deepti Sharma or Pooja Vastrakar may replace Dhar in the final XI.
Probable XI
Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana, Shikha Pandey, Poonam Yadav, Veda Krishnamurthy, Anuja Patil, Jemimah Rodrigues, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Rumeli Dhar/Deepti Sharma/Pooja Vastrakar
England
The English Women had a great outing in their first encounter against the Southern Stars, as they overcame their arch-rivals by eight wickets. The duo of Sciver (2-29) and Jenny Gunn (3-26) restricted the Aussies to a substandard 8-149, that was chased down with ease. Natalie Sciver (68) and Beaumont (58) steadied the ship after the initial hiccup.
Sciver for her all-round display was adjudged the Player of the Match and will once again gold key against India. Shrubhole who was ruled out from the previous encounter will undergo a fitness test prior to the match to ascertain her availability for the fixture.
Probable XI
Bryony Smith, Danielle Wyatt, Tammy Beaumont (wk), Natalie Sciver, Heather Knight (c), Fran Wilson, Alice Davidson Richards, Jenny Gunn, Danielle Hazell, Sophie Ecclestone, Katie George/Anya Shrubsole
