Chennai Super Kings completed their fairytale return to the IPL after 2 long years as they clinched the prestigious title for the third time in 9 years of their appearance in the competition.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a competitive total of 178 runs, but Aussie veteran Shane Watson had some other plans for a dangerous-looking SRH. After looking a bit off for the first 10 balls it was his sheer dominance with the bat which took away the match from Sunrisers with almost 2 overs to spare.
He scored his second century of the season and fourth overall in the history of the competition. His unbeaten knock of 117 runs comprised 11 fours and 8 blistering hits over the fence.
At the start of the competition this team was criticized for taking almost 9 players above the age of 30, but eventually, they proved their critics wrong by capturing the ultimate glory of by winning their third IPL title.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan who was commentating in Hindi for the finals alongside his Race-3 co-star Anil Kapoor, heaped praises for CSK side. When he was asked by his co-commentator about his thoughts on the lack of young players in the side and banking upon experience, he uttered with sheer confidence, “What are you even saying!? No one retires at the age of 30!”
