Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United Match Prediction
Date: 15th March 2018
Venue: Sharjah International Cricket Stadium
As the PSL moves towards its business end in the 2018 edition, Islamabad United will take on Quetta Gladiators on March 14th. The match will be played at the picturesque Sharjah Cricket stadium.
Here’s a complete analysis of Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United match:
Quetta Gladiators
Captain: Sarfaraz Ahmed
Players to watch out:
On the back of a hat-trick of wins, the belligerent Gladiators took on Lahore qalandars in a bid to consolidate their position amongst the top-ranked teams. However, a breathtaking inning (94 off 50 balls) by Qalandar’s Fakhar Zaman proved to be too much Brendon McCullum’s men as the Gladiators fell short by 17 runs in their pursuit of 187. Jason Roy and Rillie Rossow, who has endured an indifferent tournament thus far, were the only batsmen to offer any sort of resistance against the likes of Narine and Yasir Shah.
On the bowling front, speedster Anwar Ali was the pick of the bowlers with figures 1-24 amidst carnage at the expense of Watson (0-50) and Rahat Ali (1-51), both of whom were taken to the cleaners. Come March 15th, Gladiators would be hoping for a reboot to their fortunes when they take on Islamad United, a team they had previously beaten by six wickets.
Probable XI:
Shane Watson, Kevin Pietersen, Sarfraz Ahmed (c & wk), Anwar Ali, Jason Roy, Rilee Rossouw, Mir Hamza, Rameez Raja, Rahat Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Hasan Khan
Islamabad United
Captain: Misbah-ul-Haq
The champions of the inaugural PSL Islamabad United has been on a roll this season, having won four games on a trout.
Players to watch out:
While Misbah’s leadership has been valiant, their overseas recruits in Luke Ronchi, who scored a brilliant 58 off 36 balls and Alex Hales (46 off 33 balls) against Sultans to steer the franchise to a 33-run victory, has bee the cornerstones to Islamabad United’s success. Though JP Duminy didn’t fire in the last match, he’s shown glimpses of his prowess against Zalmi where the left-hander scored a pristine 73 off 54 balls. The local talent in Hussain Talat and Faheem Ashraf form the heart of the middle-order.
While Islamabad United will bank on their trio of fast bowlers in Raees, Sami, and Finn, they’d be hoping, Samit Patel compiles an encore of his performance in the last game that saw him pick two wickets along with local spinner Shadab Khan.
Team XI: Luke Ronchi (WK), Alex Hales/Sam Billing, Asif Ali, Samit Patel, Andre Russell, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Sami, Steven Finn, Misbah-ul-Haq, Samit Patel, Zahar Gohar
