So, here we are then folks! After three weeks of pulsating cricket, the PSL moves to Lahore for the business end of the tournament. On 20th March, defending champions Peshawar Zalmi overcame Quetta Gladiators in a heart-wrenching thriller to book their place in the second Eliminator against Karachi Kings.
Peshawar Zalmi
The defending champions just like their opponents have had an up and down tournament and have somehow managed to qualify for the playoffs. That they’ve qualified is primarily due to the heroics of Kamran Akmal who has scored 75 and 107 respectively in the last two matches. While Hafeez started the PSL on a bright note in the first half of the league has hit a rough path of which he’d be looking to make amends after squandering a good start that he got on Eliminator-1. Liam Dawson’s breathtaking blitz that culminated on 62 off a mere 35 balls took his team past the 150-mark. Tamim Iqbal will miss out today’s encounter owing to a knee injury
On the bowling front, there was an allround display with the likes of Riyaz, Hasan Ali, Sameen Gul and Umaid Asif sharing 2 wickets apiece.

Karachi Kings:
The Karachi Kings had been in red-hot form throughout the tournament, however, they were shocked to the core by a rampaging Islamabad United’s opener Luke Ronchi, who has been in outstanding form right throughout the tournament, having made three 70 plus scores in the past fifteen days. His latest assault of 94 off 39 balls, that helped Karachi chase down 155 in just 12.3 overs, epitomized his form to the hilt. Colin Ingram (68) and Joe Denly (51) were outstanding for Karachi in the previous encounter, while Babar Azam’s prolific form that has lasted for the past seven games came to a screeching halt with a second ball duck. However, he would be able to make amends for it in front of the raucous Lahore crowd.
On the bowling front, while Samit Patel (0-23) was steady, his partner, Mohammad Sami continued his good form and notched up two wickets at a miserly economy of 5.0. While Eoin Morgan, who had captained Karachi in Eliminator-1 won’t be available with the team and with Imad Wasim injured, Shahid Afridi may lead the team in their absence.
