The veteran fast bowler, Jhulan Goswami has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match ODI series against Australia starting March 12. She sustained a heel injury during the recently concluded series against South Africa.
Sukanya Parida, 24 year old Bengal pacer, has been named in the 15-member squad as her replacement. Parida had made her ODI debut against the Windies back in 2016 and was also picked for the World Cup qualifiers held in Sri Lanka last year before an injury ruled her out of contention.
Concurrently, Sushma Verma has been named the sole wicketkeeper in the squad, while Taniya Bhatia was dropped following mediocre returns in T20I series against South Africa.
The three-match rubber between India and Australia has a greater context, as the series will be a part of the ICC Women’s Championship– 2017-2020.
