Nidahas Trophy 2018
India vs Bangladesh, 5th T20I
Venue: R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo
Bangladesh confident yet wary of India’s superiority
The smiles are visibly back on the faces of Bangladeshi players as well as their fans after the Tigers pulled off a stunning chase against hosts Sri Lanka. That it was the fourth highest successful run-chase and the highest by an Asian team would give the Asian tigers a much needed revive after the team has gone through a torrid phase that saw them lose 10 of their last 11 T20I.
The run-chase was primarily engineered by the shenanigans of Mushfiqur Rahim (72 off 35 balls), whose blistering knock managed to shake off the nightmares of the WT20 2016 clash against India, where Bangladesh make a hash of the equation (2 runs off 3 balls). They would go on to lose three wickets in as many balls, first of which was Rahim. However, as eluded by Rahim himself, Bangladesh need to build upon the momentum and should be wary of their neighbors India, who’d be looking to stamp their authority on the tournament by putting in a complete performance and confirm their spot into the finals.
When: Wednesday, March 14, 7 PM Local
Pitch and Weather conditions:
The inclement weather conditions in Colombo hampered Bangladesh’s training session leading up to the game. The weather is expected to play its part during Wednesday’s game too but with the groundsmen doing their best, we should definitely see some action albeit a curtailed one.
The pitch rolled out for Nidahas Trophy 2018 has proved to nightmares for the bowlers and India vs Bangladesh encounter is expected to be an extension of the same and bowlers will have to rely on subtle variations to fox the batsman.

Analyzing teams and marquee players for India vs Bangladesh:
India
After Dinesh Karthik and Manish Pandey steered India to a comfortable six-wicket win over hosts Sri Lanka, India is expected to field the same batting line-up allowing KL Rahul another game to get himself into the groove after spending a lot of time out of the team.
On the bowling front, Shardul Thakur came back valiantly with a match-winning performance (4-26) after having coped with a pounding in the first game. The spin bowling duo of Sundar and Chahal will look to emulate their exploits of the previous game while Vijay Shankar may look to exploit the overcast conditions.
Predicted XI: Rohit Sharma (C), Shikhar Dhawan (VC), KL Rahul, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Vijay Shankar, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat
Bangladesh
While their top five including Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, and Liton Das are brimming with confidence, Bangladesh would need their fast bowlers to step up. While Mustafizur has been clever with his subtle cutters and plethora of different variations, he would require his compatriot in Rubel Hossain while below-par performances from Taskin Ahmed might force Bangladesh to go in for Abu Jayed or Ariful Haque.
Predicted XI: Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah (c), Rubel Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Soumya Sarkar, Nazmul Islam, Liton Das, Abu Jayed/Ariful Haque, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan
