Raptors ended the last season with a 58-24 regular-season record and went on to win their first-ever NBA championship last season. But any attempt to match the success of last season will require more efforts as the last season’s hero Kawhi Leonard is no more in North this season. The former San Antonio Spurs is plying his trade in the Western Conference with Los Angeles Clippers.

New Orleans Pelicans missed the playoffs last season after ending the regular season with a 33-49 record. They also lost superstar Anthony Davis to Los Angeles Lakers.

That said, there is really an air of confidence about Pelicans this season and some NBA pundits see them as a true dark horse this season, or they are expected to be at least competitive.

Raptors played four exhibition games against the fellow NBA teams in the pre-season, winning twice and losing the other two.

New Orleans Pelicans:

POelicans stretched their pre-season to five games and remained unbeaten in those matches.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who arrived from Brooklyn Nets in the off-season, will miss the match against New Orleans due to a groin injury. The 24-year-old forward picked up the injury in Raptors’ 2nd last pre-season game against Chicago Bulls.

Raptors will also be without Patrick McCaw (knee injury) for the home game against Pelicans.

New Orleans Pelicans:

New Orleans Pelicans were dealt a huge blow at the start of the new season after they announced that rookie sensation Zion Williamson had undergone arthroscopic surgery on his knee, and will miss six to eight weeks. There’s a real hype around Williamson, but the fans will have to wait for Willaimson to see in action.

Darius Miller has been ruled out from Orleans’ season-opener against Raptors due to Achilles tendon injury.
