NOP vs PHX DREAM11 MATCH PREVIEW:
Two teams from the Western Conference will collide against each other when New Orleans Pelicans host Phoenix Suns in an NBA match at Smoothie King Center, in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday morning.
New Orleans Pelicans:
The victory which was proving to be as elusive as the elixir of life finally bestowed upon them by a benign opponent. And it can indeed turn into a two-game winning streak if we go by the form and the profile of the teams.
Pelicans were on the road for the last five games and it was quite evident that this long trip was turning into a sour experience for the franchise based in Louisiana. Prior to those five away games was a home match Utah Jazz which they lost 111-132 and it was an indicator of how things may unravel on the road.
New Orleans started the season with four consecutive wins, and then they lost Anthony Davis to injury – the fifth game- and by the time he came back he seemed to be distracted by the news linking him up with the Golden State Warriors.
In a nutshell, Davis struggled, Pelicans lost and the franchise found itself deep in a rut.
But against Chicago Bulls, Davis was back to his marauding best as he dropped 32 points and helped his team snapped a six-game losing streak.
Phoenix Suns:
For some time, they had Boston Celtics floundering in their claws, and it seemed Suns would finally see the sun themselves and could script a big shock.
But the match was not out of some inspirational Hollywood script and Phoenix crumbled under Celtics’ continuous pressure and ended up losing 109-116 in a match where they had a huge 22 points lead over their esteemed opponents in the 2nd quarter.
This is the story of their season so far. Their upheavals are like flash in the pan or just plain flattery.
Regular Season Record-
New Orleans Pelicans: W-5, L-6
Phoenix Suns: W-2, L-9
Players to watch out for:
New Orleans Pelicans:
Anthony Davis – Finally we saw an old Anthony Davis against Chicago Bulls in the last match. Pelicans’ biggest star seemed to be struggling since coming back from injury but was back to his best against Bulls where he dropped a game-high 32 points. The 25-year-old Power-Forward is also going for 12.0 rebounds per game.
Nikola Mirotic – The past five games or so may not have been his best of the new season, but Nikola MNirotic is still averaging more than 20 for the season. He is a good player who can give you some important points if in the team.
Phoenix Suns:
Devin Booker – Simply put, Devin Booker is incredible. For a team performing so so badly and lying at the foot in West, and to average 26.5points per game for them, undoubtedly he deserves better results. He is also first in assists chart for Phoenix at the moment. If not Anthony, certainly a player of the calibre of a star player.
Deandre Ayton – The 20-year-old is going for 15.7 points per game this season, 2nd best record for Suns. However, he is leading rebounds charts with his 10.8 contributions per game.
