Remember it is a must for a team to secure the top-six spot to avoid going through the Play-in tournament. This is an important pointer because see some teams can end up with the 7th spot and while they play the 10th ranked team, it can be a case that the latter will enter in-form and a couple of wins can change the complexion. However, that can be the case during the Playoffs too but the thing is that securing a top-six spot gives a great comfort zone or a cushion of sorts. However, for some teams at this point, securing a Play-in spot will be huge in itself.
Talking about the Play-in spot, the Timberwolves are in possession of the seventh spot and the Nuggets have two more wins and three fewer losses, which means the road for the Wolves is still tricky if they want to get a bye for the Playoffs. If they end up holding their seventh spot, with the way things are, they can face on among Trail Blazers, Pelicans, Spurs, or Kings, and I am pretty sure you’d fancy the Wolves against them but I think a match-up against Spurs can be tricky fit-wise. This is why it is so important to still fight for the top-six spot, however, it is not the end of the world if you can mange a Play-in spot.
For the 76ers, the race to the top of the East is not that easy considering that Bulls and Heat are creating separation for the top-two spots. Both those teams have built incredible chemistry, especially the Heat while the Bulls have a huge weapon in DeRozan. Yes, a lineup of Harden, Embiid, Harris, Maxey, Thybulle, Green, and Niang in main rotation provides great balance on both ends but it will be first interesting to see how Harden adopts to the new system and it may take some time after going through a midseason trade. The 76ers are also in close proximity to Cavs, Celtics, and Bucks, something to keep an eye on for sure.

So, about this game? A settled Timberwolves will take on the 76ers team that will most likely welcome Harden for the first time as a player on the floor. This certainly boosts the one-guard spot but hey, D’Angelo Russell for the Wolves will come into this one after a huge 37 points night. Anthony Edwards has had three terrible games so he is due one for Minnesota. But there is no doubt that the most exciting battle seems to be between Centers Anthony-Towns and Embiid. That is indeed a battle of titans and both players have been in great touch. Embiid may have slight edge but Karl will give big-time contributions. Bench-wise, the Wolves look deeper at multiple position but the 76ers are a better defensive team. But yes, the Wolves are a way better offensive team on average so let us see how James Harden responds in his first game with the 76ers.
