LAL vs NOP Dream11 MATCH PREVIEW:
Two giants of Western Conference will face each other as Los Angeles Lakers host a struggling New Orleans Pelicans in an NBA match at Staples Center, in Los Angeles, on Saturday morning (IST).
Los Angeles Lakers:
The cohesion is now in the squad. It was just a matter of time when LeBron James and his team played as a unit. Though the first few weeks evoked doubts whether Lakers would be able to fulfil what they may have proposed to the biggest NBA star to prise him away from Cleveland. But at the moment, the team looks well-oiled to end its NBA post-season barren run and sit at fourth in the Western Conference table.
For the Showtime, the season is traversing towards a normal path now. The losses here and there shouldn’t be seen as a wake-up call or something forcing NBA pundits to doubt Lakers’ potential to secure playoff spots. All the big teams had suffered shock defeats, no team or an individual athlete is perfect enough to maintain the all-conquering record.
For that argument, The Yellows are on a two-game losing streak, falling to Washington Wizards (128-110) and Brooklyn Nets (115-110) in their last two games. The latter being on a dreamy run of their own, seven consecutive wins to be precise. So the momentum may have been the hero for Nets.
Also, it was a four-game road trip which ended in three losses for Lakers. And not to mention that the 16-time NBA Champions are playing without Rajon Rondo and Brandon Ingram, two of the finest players for Lakers on any given day.
New Orleans Pelicans:
New Orleans Pelicans are nowhere near matching the highs of last season. Too much inconsistency and injuries to key players are some reasons for their uncanny performances this season.
With a 15-17 record, Pelicans are 13th in the Western Conference and are coming into this match after losing two times in as many matches.
The home form has been far from impressive as well as they have already lost five times in front of their own fans. While the road has brought the worst out of them, 12 losses in the 16 matches is not a record which can make a team a contender for the playoffs.
Anthony Davis’ uncertain future isn’t helping the team either. The 25-year-old star, who has been with Pelicans since 2012 when he was picked up by the franchise, hasn’t said anything either to kill the rumours.
Regular Season Record-
Los Angeles Lakers: W-18, L-13
New Orleans Pelicans: W-15, L-17
Players to watch out for:
Los Angeles Lakers:
Lebron James – The four-time NBA MVP has made Los Angeles Lakers from an outside playoff contender to a genuine powerhouse in a matter of few months. The former Cleveland Cavaliers star is dropping 28.0 points per game this season. As usual, there have been some gigantic games, and for the normality, you can always expect him to lead the points charts in a game.
Kyle Kuzma – In red-hot form at the moment. In the last 10 games or so, he is averaging 22.0 points per game and this is the reason why his regular season average has gone above by few notches. He can be a shrewd addition in your NBA fantasy teams.
New Orleans Pelicans:
Anthony Davies – For many he is a future NBA MVP. Too big a talent not to win an NBA Championship and that’s why he is being linked with a move to the super teams this season. His season average is 28.0 points per game, while his other contribution is quite commendable as he is racking up 12.3 rebounds per game.
Jrue Holiday – More of a seasoned pro in New Orleans. The 28-year-old sometimes go under the radar but his contribution can never be. The 2009 Philadelphia’s 1st round pick is dropping 20.7 points per game this season.
