With the score tied at 100 points each after the end of the regulation time, Pistons were more tenacious in the overtime, scoring 12 points and kept Raptors to just 7 to win the match.
Kyle Lowry dropped a season-high 35 points, while Pascal Siakam came good once again as he dropped 21 points. Raptors remain 2nd in the Eastern Conference with 46-18 record.
Houston Rockets extended their winning streak to five games after beating an inconsistent Boston Celtics 104-115 at TD Garden. With the win, 5th placed Rockets cut the gap to just one game on 3rd placed Oklahoma City Thunder.
James Harden dropped a game-high 42 points, while Kyrie Irving had his team’s best efforts with 24 points. The Greens now have lost five of their last six games.
Regular Season Record-
Toronto Raptors: W-46, L-18
Houston Rockets: W-38, L-25
Players to watch out for:
Toronto Raptors:
Kawhi Leonard – The former San Antonio Spurs star is a candidate for the MVP this season. A two-way player, who scores not only points but he is a candidate for the NBA defensive player of the season. The 2014 NBA finals MVP is averaging 27.0 points per game. He is doubtful for this match though.
Pascal Siakam – He can take home the “Most improved player in NBA” award, without a shadow of any doubt. His numbers for this season are almost double of what he has managed in his career so far. The 24-year-old is racking up 16.3 points per game.
Houston Rockets:
James Harden – The streak is gone but remains as destructive as he was at any point this season. In a sense, he should enjoy this freedom when he is no longer chasing Wilt Chamberlain’s untouchable looking record. It looked in the last match as he produced an all-round performance, scoring 42 points, and had 7 rebounds and had 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Clint Capela – He seems to be struggling to rediscover his form he was displaying before the injury. But no doubt, that the 24-year-old is an indispensable part for Houston Rockets. He is the 2nd best player for Houston and is averaging 16.8 points per game.
