Both the teams need a strong pre-season!

The significance of a strong pre-season becomes a top priority for both Warriors and Lakers due to the summer overhaul which saw new faces arriving and some established stars leaving the franchise for pastures new.

Warriors are set to head into the new season without Kevin Durant and fan-favourite Andre Iguodala. The former Oklahoma City Thunder star helped the team to two NBA title wins, winning the NBA finals MVP in those victories, while Iguodala left for Memphis Grizzlies. The void left by the duo will almost be too big to fill for any player, but Warriors added D’Angelo Russell, Shabazz Napier and Treveon Graham, to name a few, to their roster.

Lakers will also go into the 2019-20 season with a different roster. The 16-time champions added Anthony Davis to their team, and he will ply his trade alongside LeBron James this season.

Warriors are hot with early injury set-backs before the pre-season gets underway against Lakers.

New summer signing Willie Cauley-Stein was seen on crutches after suffering a foot strain during an offseason training, while Kevon Looney suffered a hamstring strain and has been ruled out of this game.

Steve Kerr has been left with just Omari Spellman as the first-choice centre for this game with Marquese Chriss playing as his back-up.

Klay Thompson is unlikely to play this season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee during Game 6 of The NBA Finals against Toronto Raptors.

Alen Smailagic exited the last practice session after suffering an ankle injury. He won’t be available.

Los Angeles Lakers:

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel confirmed that both LeBron James and Anthony Davis will play against Golden State Warriors.

Jared Dudley has been ruled out from the clash against Warriors due to knee soreness, so expect Kostas Antetokounmpo and Devontae Cacok to provide backup Anthony Davis at the power forward position.

In addition, Talen Horton-Tucker (stress reaction) and Kyle Kuzma (stress reaction) will also miss Saturday’s game in San Francisco.
