France were the favorites to qualify for the finals from their matchup against Argentina in the semifinal. After all, the world no-3 beat the USA in the quarters, arguably the biggest shock of the tournament.

But Vincent Collet’s men suffered from a day off, as the South American team completely outplayed Frech, beating them 80-66 to book a spot in the final.

It will be the second straight exit at the last four for France. Now the target should be to emulate the last world cup’s achievement, which was a Bronze medal.

Standing in their path is the Australian team. The Boomers has had a very successful campaign and they should be proud of their efforts, despite the local media Downunder criticizing the team’s blunder in the semis.

Andrej Lemanis’ men arrived into their semifinal game against Spain with a 100% record. Despite a significant gap between the two teams on FIBA ranking, the Boomers had the momentum to script a win.

It was an even battle right from the start of the match. But Spain trailed for longer periods and when the game ended at 71-71 after the regulation time, the European team were in the ascendency.

Though the first overtime failed to separate the side, Spain pulled ahead in the 2nd, eventually winning the match 95-88.
