DEN vs NOP Dream11: As the Playoffs come near, we are going to see a big dash from multiple squads, whether it is about seizing a Play-in spot or finishing in the top-six rankings, a lot is at stake. At the end of the day, making Playoffs signify that a team has done the hard bit and has won more games than the bottom-five teams in each Conference. It is not that easy to win in this league where even going on big winning streaks doesn’t mean that you are not susceptible during other parts of the season. Keeping that in mind, let us jump into this game between the Denver Nuggets and the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Nuggets have been doing a great job of winning a ton of games since January largely on the back of their ace Nikola Jokic. They are in an intense race versus the Mavericks, Jazz, Timberwolves for the top-six spot race, and even Clippers are rolling a lot of wins and have looked highly competitive, being among the eight teams in the league with 50%+ wins.

On the other hand, the race for the Play-in tournament is heating up for the Pelicans. Their immediate opponents for Play-in are the Lakers, who are a rank above them, the Trail Blazers, a team that is unlikely to make it at this point, and the Spurs and the Kings with an outside chance as well. They have won four in a row and have been showcasing tremendous grit.

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

The road to the Playoffs for Nuggets and Pelicans
The Nuggets have been a formidable squad this year and they have shuttled up to the sixth position with Nikola playing some high-brand of basketball on a regular basis. His scoring, playmaking, rebounding, and leadership all play a major role and keep the Nuggets ticking even against elite teams. While they have some issues concerning their bench, inconsistencies that plague Will Barton and Aaron Gordon’s tendency to be a little less assertive on the offensive end, Jokic has ensured that the ball is moving around which surely helps the confidence of the teammates at the end of the day.

Monte Morris has ensured that the perimeter keeps supplying shooting but with Murray out, they can lag behind some of the more elite teams while with Michael Porter Jr., their defense can struggle too. Overall, they are still in a position to seal the top-six squads but watch out for the Timberwolves!

On the other hand, the Pelicans have turned the knob on towards the Play-in tournament. After a slight aberration, they have adjusted to the inclusion of CJ, and his willingness to pass the ball helps out a lot. What makes this unit special is that their wing Brandon Ingram is also a willing passer, while both CJ and Ingram know how to score in a variety of ways. Herbert Jones has been an elite defender, Jonas Valanciunas picks up big-time boards, while also giving more than decent offensive production, whereas Jaxson Hayes has been a great slashing option in the Power Forward capacity.

As of now, they are fielding a Guard, two wings, a Big Forward, and a Center in the lineup, they have both size and shooting capabilities while their defense is peaking right now. A 30-point win against the fourth-ranked West team in Jazz surely bolsters their claim to stick with the Play-in spot.

Match-ups
Jonas Valanciunas will have his hands full shutting down Jokic and that seems to be the highlight of all match-ups here. Meanwhile, in terms of Forwards, Brandon Ingram Jaxson Hayes. and Herbert Jones line up against Gordon, Barton, and Green, in this match-up the Pelicans have more consistent offense from Ingram but Barton and Gordon have shown they can have one of those big offensive games every now and then. Hayes will play an integral role but defensively I think the Pelicans have a bit of an edge but the Nuggets Forwards have a tendency to surprise every now and then.

In terms of the bench, both teams are struggling a bit but Nuggets may have a slight edge with Cousins playing at a high level these days. However, one area where the Pelicans have a decisive edge is the Guard position where the Nuggets have no one who can match up to the versatile scoring of CJ McCollum. Is that the match-up that will win the Pelicans the game but hey, the Nuggets know how to get it done too!
