Even Cleveland Cavaliers couldn’t have seen it coming. The Boston Celtics juggernaut absolutely destroyed LeBron James and Cavaliers in the first game of the Eastern Conference finals and if there was anything positive for the visitors in that humiliation, it was the gap which could have been bigger had hosts not taken their foot off the gas in the end.

In the end, the 17-times NBA Champions defeated the 2016 Champions 108-83 at TD Garden and the Greens took a commanding 1-0 lead in this 7 game series. But the scoreline wouldn’t give you the true picture of the game.

The Cavs were 0-of-12 on three-pointers in the first half and missed their 15 straight attempts from beyond the arc by the time Kyle Korver sent the ball into the hoop from outside the paint in the 3rd quarter. Even the mighty LeBron James wasn’t untouched by the Cavaliers’ pathetic performance. He could only muster 15 points in the game which was a way below than his postseason average of 34 points before that game. The four-time MVP was poor, to say the least, from every corner of the court. He missed shots after shots and Cavaliers were even -26 in the first half when he was on the court, his worst ever plus-minus in a single half in his postseason career.

Celtics were led by Jaylon Brown who orchestrated Cavaliers’ demolition in the first quarter. He led the scoring charts with his 23 points, while Al Horford (20), Marcus Morris (21) and Jayson Tatum (16) made some significant contributions in the game. Meanwhile, Kevin Love scored the most points for Cavaliers as he finished with 17 points in the game.
