BOS vs MIN DREAM11 MATCH PREVIEW:
Boston Celtics will be aiming to get back to winning ways when they host Minnesota Timberwolves in an NBA match at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, on Thursday morning (IST).
Boston Celtics:
The Greens bade adieu to the 2018 in a worst possible way as they lost to San Antonio Spurs 120-112 in their last NBA match of last year.
Not only that. The defeats have their own repercussions but for Boston Celtics it came with an added price as Kyrie Irving suffered a horrible eye injury in the fourth quarter. Head coach Brad Stevens was asked about the extent of the injury but he wasn’t sure if it was serious enough to force Irving to miss game time.
The loss wasn’t unexpected by any means. It was normal in the current circumstances or wasn’t a shock by any stretch if we look how results have panned out for the 18 times NBA champions so far this season.
Barring an impressive 8 game winning streak, Celtics have been too inconsistent and now doubts are starting to resurface over their potential to win the Eastern Conference.
At the moment, they are 5th in the table. They have won five and lost five times in the last 10 games heading into their encounter against Wolves.
Minnesota Timberwolves:
The Wolves found out during the pre-match warm-up before their clash against New Orleans Pelicans that they didn’t have to face one of the best NBA players. It was more than a good omen which should have propelled the visitors. Yes, the player was Anthony Davis who missed the last game with an illness.
But Wolves are Wolves. Hit by injuries themselves. They growled, roared but couldn’t hunt a shorthanded prey. They ended up losing 123-114, their sixth in the last 10 matched and they remain 13th in the Western Conference table, a huge four points adrift of the playoff spots at the moment.
However, Minnesota weren’t outplayed and had the very chance to win the match. They had a one point lead going into the fourth quarter. Not much to put off the hosts but enough to have a psychological advantage. But couldn’t.
Regular Season Record-
Boston Celtics: W-25, L-10
Minnesota Timberwolves: W-16, L-18
Players to watch out for:
Boston Celtics:
Kyrie Irving – Though he is a doubt for this match we have selected him in the players segment. After all he is the man for the big occasions and somebody who more often than not turns up when the going gets tough for his team. Nobody will ever forget his three-pointer in the 2016 NBA finals which Cavaliers their first and the only NBA championship to date. Now with Celtics, the 26-year-old is scoring points at 23.3 per game.
Jayson Tatum – One of the biggest young talents in NBA, Jayson Tatum has got the praise from all corners of the world for his display on the court. Still just 20, his average of 16.3 points per game doesn’t do justice to his importance and contribution to the team.
Minnesota Timberwolves:
Karl-Anthony Towns – Had a monster of a game as he scored 28 points and an incredible 17 rebounds in the match. With Jimmy Butler becoming the part of Minnesota Timberwolves’ history, Karl-Anthony Towns is the future if Wolves manage to hold on to this star. At 23, he is still an unfinished product. For the season, he is dropping more than 20 points per game.
Andrew Wiggins – He is having a very good season and is scoring at a very good rate in the last 10 games or so. In the  last match he again scored in the 20s and his quality was at his best against Oklahoma City Thunder as he dropped a team-high 30 points in the game. The 23-year-old is going for 16.7 points per game.
