BKN vs IND DREAM11 MATCH PREVIEW:
The red-hot Brooklyn Nets will be facing a stern test to extend their winning streak when they face Indiana Pacers in an NBA match at Barclays Center, in New York, on Saturday morning (IST).
Brooklyn Nets:
One of the biggest and the best trick has been pulled off by Brooklyn Nets. This has to be the tip of every sporting miracles for the Nets as they see themselves one of the real contenders for the NBA playoffs this season.
Since the 2006-07 season, the All-Blacks have played the post-season in only three seasons, making their endeavours less than a guest appearance. But winning is something which can make even the underdogs aspire for some haughty perches.
It all started with the hosting of Toronto Raptors on December 8, 2018. The Raptors, we all know, are having ‘The Season’ and for many a team which has the potential to stop Golden State Warriors. And to make matter worse for the Nets, their morale was low as they were heading into that match on the back of 8 consecutive defeats. So how many of us would have given them even the slightest of chances against Kawhi Leonard and company?
But Brooklyn ripped the Mickey out of every prediction and ended up beating Toronto 106-105 in the overtime. That was it, a push to Nets and now they are on a seven-game winning streak, the current best run across both the conferences at the moment.
However, their bad start to the season means that this is just a repairing job as they still find themselves out of the playoff spots. But everything can change and there is no reason why Nets should not be targetting a top-8 finish this season.
Indiana Pacers:
Indiana Pacers are on a two-game skid heading into this match. But they should take some heart from their performance against Toronto Raptors in the last game which they lost 99-96 at Scotiabank Arena.
Pacers started the match with a bang as they closed down the first quarter 34-24 in their favour. Though Indiana lost the next quarter 26-24, they still had an important 8 points lead going into the break.
The 2000 Eastern Conference Champions extended their lead back to 10 points after winning the 3rd quarter 27-25 and looked like winning the match. Victor Oladipi was in good touch while Myles Turner was producing a good defensive display at the moment.
And the win looked a formality for Pacers as they extended their lead to 17 points. But then everything changed.
Kawhi Leonard came into his own, dunking in many times and triggered a comeback which was completed only when Fred VanVleet sank a three-pointer to put his team in the lead at 97-96 with less than 30 seconds to go.
Pacers are still in a healthy position in the East as they remained on fourth heading into this match.
Regular Season Record-
Brooklyn Nets: W-15, L-18
Indiana Pacers: W-20, L-12
Players to watch out for:
Brooklyn Nets:
D’Angelo Russell – The player with the most games and most starts for Nets this season is Russell who, in the absence of injured Caris LeVert, becomes Brooklyn’s, go-to man. The 22-year-old is dropping 18.0 points per game this season.
Spencer Dinwiddie – He normally features from the bench. Out of the 33 games, he played this season, only three have come from the start. But the 25-year-old is still piling some good numbers and dropped a game-high 27 points in the last match against Chicago Bulls.
Indiana Pacers:
Victor Oladipo – The only player in Indiana Pacers’ ranks to average in the 20s this season. He has become an indispensable part of the squad since trading for Indiana Pacers last season. His average for the season is 20.3 points per game and is also racking up 6.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game as well.
Bojan Bogdanovic – He has the ability to come good against big teams. His average for the season is 16.4 points per game but big numbers can be expected from the 29-year-old as well.
Domantas Sabonis is also another player who is enjoying a good campaign this season.
